On the way to peace
On May 26, 2025, the cross-party committee "Swiss Peace Initiative for Nagorno-Karabakh" was founded in Bern. The members of the committee support the Federal Council in its peace efforts in Nagorno-Karabakh. They are committed to a sustainable political solution to the conflict between Azerbaijan and the displaced Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh.
What does the Swiss Peace Initiative want for Nagorno-Karabakh?
The Swiss Peace Initiative is based on Motion 24.4259, passed by Parliament, which instructs the Federal Council to organize an international peace forum on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in order to facilitate an open dialogue between Azerbaijan and representatives of the Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians and to negotiate the safe return of the historically resident Armenian population.
